My dad told me he'll do it and show me how so I can do it the next time, but I'm impatient and told him I'm going to try it

Is this how

Is this the right way to do it?

Put the jack here, at the very bottom of the shock absorber with a bit of pressure.

Then undo these two nuts,

Then let the jack down slowly and the whole suspension unit should lower with it without breaking my teeth?

Or should I leave it for the auld man?

Its a MK3 Polo btw

I have a lot to learn

Rear suspension is easy and yeh looks about right. when i did my corsa i used a spare wheel to hold it up. Also are you changing the shock with it or just the springs. if its just the springs then you should be able to undo it from the hub and not from the top.

Springs and shocks bud. I'm a bit weary of doing it as I have no spring compressors and I don't facy a spring whacking me in the face

well i changed one on a astra MK3 without a jack i just pushed it up and got someone to bolt the top on. its honestly not as hard as you may think. for doing both then you've got it set right the weight of the car on the jack and shock will hold it togeather. IMO go for it. best way to learn is to have a go at it yourself

I've undone them 2 nuts that I took a photo of, do I just lower the jack now? Or will the spring do something crazy if I lower the jack?

How did you manage to get into that nut thats inside the axle??You just need to slacken and remove the bolt from the other end of it.

There just caked with dirt

Went out and cleaned the one thats pictured, its solid other than a small bit of surface rust on a bit of it.

Would it fail MOT on that?
