Why buy a diesel then?
Insurance and tuning. At 18 (when I got the car, the equivalent petrol for insurance prices was the 1.4 100hp, which isn't that tunable. 20VT was loads more on insurance. I will be doing more miles when I go to uni though, as I will probably be back in Nottingham a lot.

I'm on 10k a year on insurance, and I do anywhere between 8k-10k a year. So it's roughly right. =]

Astra is quite low but I don't do mega miles anyway so it's about right. Plus I'll use the Freelander if I'm doing any shows etc. miles away.
Corsa was insured for 1000 and I did 273 between MOTs.
