putting it in hear as i need to know quick. well am at work and gona order:

timing belt
head gasket
head bolts
rovker cover gasket
oil filter
2 exhaust valves
and 2 inlet valve(as 4 are bent)

and ive forgot to get an engine code off it before i left the house. its a distributor engine
and not sure if it has a coscast head(keep forgetting to check) would this make a difference?

yeah the ones with the coscast heads are 20xe but not sure if minehas the coscast head or not forgot to look

Early engines are round tooth on the timing belt, later are square, both have different head bolts

need to go back and measure the headbolts anyway. and isnt there early ones with and without the coscast head?

same with late ones. Coscast head is massively over rated.

The castings meant to be better, early ones had bigger valve guides, coscasts are less prone to going porous.

well thats what i always thought. they are obviously better than gm ones maybe do geta bit to much hype!

Yeah possibly, they are over rated, for a fraction of the cost of a coscast head you could do the porous mod to a GM head which imo would make it just as good.

cos cast is just as likely to go porous. Far better to buy a gm head for 30 than coscast for a few hundred.

best thing about them is they have harder valve seats. But thats only really of benefit to some one fitting over size valves. The later gm head is actually cast better in the ports etc.

i see well you learn something new every day. so really unless your fitting oversized valves the gm head is your best bet?

yeah i know what you mean was just if you didnt have either and you were buying one as the gm one will be a fraction of the price
