ok so i was going to save up for a seat leon cupra r but i'd always prefer something in the ford brand, partly because my dad knows them and can fix whatever goes wrong and also because of the big discounts i get on parts.
been looking at mondeo st220's, the 3.0 v6 225bhp one.
i know barnshaw has one, but it's the facelift with the chrome, which i don't want.
tax is fair at £245 and petrol isn't an issue so that's fine.
does anyone have experience of these at all? and what are they like performance wise for such a big heavy car?
some pics of nicely styled ones would be nice too. can't decide whether i like the performance blue or silver though.

they are excellent cars, i really want one but i couldn't afford the insurance.. ford do a sport suspension kit for it which drops them by 35mm which is just the right hight.. fairly juicy but then again you had a st so not really much difference.. you can do a bit tunning wise but tbh they are quick enough anyway

I love these STs, they are really smart - I wanted one back in 2007, but couldn't really afford a Brand new one and at the time didn't want to get a used one, so settled with a new Octavia vRS instead
Really wished I'd just plumped for a used Mongdog, would have had less than 10k on it anyway to comply with company policy.
Someone on VxON has a friend with one, it looks really smart;
Oh, and Blue is THE colour to get IMO, what with it being available on the ST versions only...

I know it's not exactly the same but I used to have a Mondeo ST24 RSAP and I loved it. Really regretted selling it. The only weak point with that was the IMRC but that may not be an issue with later Mondeos.

it's hardly a normal mondeo though and i prefer the interior in these (leather recaro's) to the LCR's.
kid, maybe next year

when i was looking for one ben i was myself looking for the non chrome versions, however i managed to get a stonking deal on a facelift one and it has really grown on me now.
the thing i would say is get a 6 speed one, i think after 04 they were 6 speed.
few simple mods and they are awesome, got a full JP exhuast and K&N on at the mo and it sounds fantastic.
modification wise, you can buy eibach springs for quite cheap, unfortunately if you look at coilovers i think weitech are the cheapest you will find (at around 6/700) quid. there is not many people who specialise in modifying stuff for them. they look good as standard though really.
millions of different types of wheels out for them, you can get the new focus RS wheels replicas in 19's and deck it and it looks absolutely amazing.
value for money wise i dont think you can beat an st220 for specs/performance.

can't seem to make my mind up seen a audi tt 1.8 (225bhp) and love it.
but then it's totally different to the st220 and the LCR
much cheaper on insurance though.

depends what your looking for really mate, a big comfy fast cruise or something a bit smaller and more nimble? if you can get parts cheaper and do your own repairs on the mondy then surely thats a better bet?

Rarer than DB9's according to Top Gear.
I'd rather have a Mazda 6 equivalent.

I quite like them, my dad has a 1.8 Mondeo and it's an alright car to do long trips in. He likes driving it, I haven't been allowed yet
Would have to be that blue tbh
