Looking for a bit of advice, i started a new role in my current company on 1st April which meant i lost my car allowance.
Now for the past 2 months they have paid me the £400 a month car allowance but now they are asking for it back.
Do i have any laws on my side to avaoid this?

Check your contract for their terms on overpayment. Im fairly certain you legally have to pay it back though.

You mean your previous company has been paying you or you transferred roles within the same company?
If I were you I'd just give it back. If you never expected to be paid it after you changed roles its just putting you back in the position you should have been in.
End of the day its money you're not really entitled to and is it worth the hassle arguing with your employer over it? Probably not.

You have to give it back but you can legally charge a fair administration fee.

What davey said but you can also agree a payment scheme to fit you, so rather than £800 out in one month, £20 a week for example.

no you will have to pay it back - my past experince you can stipulate over what period normally up to 6 months
End of the day its a Admin HR error not yours so they have to account for that
