my corsa b 1.6 16v is making a kind of tapping noise since i did the head gasket, normally because its an ecotec i'd say it was the hydraulic lifters but anyone else got any ideas. when i put the valves back in i checked them all and they all seemed fine and just cant put my finger on what it is.
also if its any help its coming more from the timing belt side of the engine

Sounds like your a tooth out on the inlet cam, and it will be the valve`s just hitting the piston.
recheck the timing mate, it does have to be spot on, trust me I`ve done loads. ( ex vauxhall fitter ).

hows the best way to get it spot on, only reason i couldn't was because iirc there was a tooth slightly out when i lined it all up to the factory marks so i couldnt put the belt on. but it might have been the plug i was using to hold the pulleys in place when fitting the belt which wouldn't let me line up the pulleys and put it in if you know what i mean

done the timing belt perfectly but still tapping. any other ideas?
