we have a heat sensors (standard in new builds I think?), the fcuking thing goes off when I put toast in the toaster.

I have a heat sensor in the kitchen and a smoke alarm in the hall way. I blew out the candle in the Living room(just off the hall way) and I swear there wasn't even a hint of any real kind of smoke!

They should be standard in any kitchen. If it isn't a fixed rate the tolerance can be changed.
