It's so you can't get multiroom boxes and take them to another house.

I've had mine unplugged since the guy left the house though and this is the first time they've mentioned it.

I didn't say at any point they didn't check.

I said they hadn't bothered with me, which they hadn't until today, which is why this thread is here.

Try and keep up.

Mine was installed without a telephone line activation as the box isn't by the phone socket. My last place was the same. I've never been told to plug it in.

I'll plug it in to call back then take it out again, if it's a bigger issue i'll just run a phoneline to it, just thought it was funny after 3 years.

My Sky+ box on multiroom was installed without a phone line and still hasn't got one Every so often a box comes up telling me to plug it in.

We had the multiroom booked to be installed on a Friday and had planned to install a phone line the weekend before, but they said the wrong date over the phone so they came to install it a week before we were expecting them so it was the day before we were going to put the line in

My multiroom box is unplugged as it's another cable to look at and generally looks messy in it's current position.

If they moan they moan, i'll plug back in. I'm pretty sure there is something in the T&Cs though to say the box has to be plugged into the phone line.

Just tell them you're decorating and you can't get a phoneline to the box.
