Wanting to put a deposit down on a car i found and after dont have access to the money till next week but dont want it to sell, now how secure is it surely it's just his word with my money that he aint going to sell it and keep my money would you guys do it or wait and hope it dont sell while you wait for the cash

get him to write you a reciept stating you have paid a deposit for him to hold it for so many days. you both sign it. job done.

ask for proof of his signature? check his driving licence? not difficult really.

I'd fear too much for my windows & prestige driveway to rip someone off for a couple hundred quid when they know where I live!!
As said get him to write a reciept, one for deposit, another for collection. Or write something up yourself & take it with you which you both sign.

Ok cool i normally just pay in full and drive it back but obviously gotta wait, well going tomorrow to view so hopfully will be good and i'll be leaving a deposit

written recipt is fine, you could scan/ photocopy his drivers liscence too
