ok so noticed last night a few problems with the corsa.
rev counter stopped working.
fuel guage stopped working
temp guage stopped working
electri windows didnt work along with the heated/electric mirrors.
i hit a few bumps in the road and then the rev counter started working.
AS things stand curretntly. if i turn the ignition on in my car nothing lights up on the dash. the cd player doesnt work and neither does the electric windows etc. however the cigarette lighter works and so does the heater/ fans.
once the car is started. the electric windows work. cd player works. (speedo allways works as is cable driven) the battery light lights up constantly however, the car allways starts.
what doesnt work when the car is started is the fuel guage. the electric mirrors. temperature guage..
the car does drive as normal.
i took my car to my friends and he reckons it might be the battery. he said all the earths are fine etc.
anyone else had similar problems. what i have noticed aswell is if i have the car started and i apply the handbrake or even turn on the lights or so on. the rev counter drops to 0 and then climbs back up.
any help would be appreciated. the car is a 1995 1.4 corsa sport if that helps. cheers

Its clearly NOT the battery or alternator as the car still drives.
There are loads of earths and interior bits need to come out to get to them, not a 2 minute job, defo a wiring issue.

Well you know what I mean.your alternator will run untill your battery is dead then it will slowly die

in accordance with the corsa handbook/manual. if the battery light is on constantly your not ment to drive it and it means alternator issue. i have also noticed every so often the eml comes on very very faintly however.

i had a similar problem with my 106. would get only certain things working on clocks etc. turned out i had a couple of earths in the engine bay that needed cleaning up. works fine now. as has been said there are a lot of earths all through the car so check them all!

lol you should get yourself educated then. haynes, net, tools are all easy enough to get hold of and use. i wouldnt dare own a car if i didnt know how to do some repairs etc lol

The alternator charges the battery, if you could start the car it would probably work fine with a dead battery until it came time to start it again, the battery holds the charge and will lose charge if the alternator dies.
