again just been getting quotes on my hyperthetical 350z and was messing about to try and get the cheapest quotes....
if i put my job as
accounts manager assistant the price is - around 1100
however if i just put me down as an accountant the price goes to... - 894 .
how does the change of job make such a difference in price? also... whats the cheapest job to have
also just done an multi car quote for the whole family again for if i had a 350 and the 350 gets insured for 773

I assume, the more money you earn, the less likely you are to claim to pay for damages? Eg a small bump, you'd fix yourself rather than losing no claims. However some poor bastard would have to claim for anything with no way of paying for it to be fixed

What's the consequences of lying about your job? i.e. would they check what you did if you claimed?

I think someone once said that Student is the cheapest thing to put because it means you won't drive it much or something.

I found the same, i work in IT Risk for a power company.
If i said i worked in IT it went up, if i said Audit it went up, whereas if i said i worked for the electricity board it went down. All are technically true.

My quote was cheaper when i put my job as my part time retail job and didnt mention being a student. I didnt want to risk it though in case anything happened around uni, it was only about £30 difference too.

When I first took out insurance I worked for Fiat. When I was getting quotes if I put that I worked in the motor trade the quotes went sky high. I ended up being a 'receptionist' for a couple of years Just go with whatever cheapest Matt. I've claimed twice and they weren't bothered that my job role was incorrect.

Also housewife is cheaper than retired on that list, changed my mum and dad to housewife and househusband on the first quote, now back to retired and it's 535.
So take the MSE list with a pinch of salt!

Fair enough. Although I put in that I had a quote of £850 (I think it was about that before putting mum and dad on) and it's saying that if I put Data Processor instead of Mechanical Engineer I could have maybe gotten £803
