Just sold the motor but its got my private plate on it. Going to send the V5 off to DVLA today to have it put on retention.
Can i give the new keeper the 'green' new keeper supplement slip?
Or do DVLA need the complete V5?

You only give the new keeper the green slip anyway. Never sure why people leave it until the card is sold to sort the plate out. Should've prepared earlier.

DVLA need the complete V5, i made this mistake on my car and had to ask the new keeper to post me back the green slip, luckily they were nice people and I got it back the next day to sort it all out

Thought this might be the case, ie. DLVA not wanting to swop the plate without the green slip.
This was not sorted prior to sale incase the car didnt sell as we would have kept it. In all fairness we didnt expect someone to come along with £11k cash and not even attempt to knock us down
But then her husband does drive an R8

Legally you are not allowed to sell the car during the number plate transfer process..
I always do though lol.

If you sold the car and sent the v5 off they can legally keep the plate for them selves.
My old car is sat in a dealers garage untill i get my v5 back through then ill send it to him so he can sell it on

The buyer is a really nice old lady, i doubt she would do that
Basically, as luck would have it, she has a nice 56 plate Corsa D that she now needs to get rid of so we have said we will have it off her
Trouble is, she also has a private plate.
Whats the best way to do this, we both want our own plates to be swopped to the other person's cars at the same time as letting DVLA know the change of keepers. Odd situation

Well it can take up to 4 weeks to get the plates off. so do you trust each other to drive the vehicles registered in each others names? if not then dont sell/ swap yet

Both go to the DVLA office with your own 'current' paperwork, get the plates swapped there and then and once that's done send the V5 off for the change of ownership
