I'm off into town later to look at a suit for someones birthday. They're having like a James bond casino theme with smart dress (mainly tux/suits).
I haven't bought anything like that in years and really want to get something slightly different yet something that looks really smart.
Anyone got any suggestions?
Btw, I don't want to pay through the teeth for something I'll wear once a year!

Rent a tuxedo if you don't plan on wearing the suit again. If not buy a plain black one from somewhere like Next, buy a nice crisp white shirt and a proper bow tie but don't tie it up just have it round your neck. 007/Frank Sinatra style.

I'd recommend Marks & Spencers Autograph range of suits, always seem to have a nice cut and aren't ridiculously expensive

M&S is where I've always gotten my suits, good value, look decent and fit well.
As said though, I'd probably just rent something.

Got mine from Burton for £120ish a few years back though, they had a good range

If you want a dinner suit (or tuxedo if you're american) i would rent if it's a one off occasion as you can spend a fortune very easily. I ended up buying mine on impulse and spent £600 on a Ted Baker dinner suit and then another £150 on a pair of Barkers, it does look really good but i rarely wear it if i'm being honest.

Burtons got an offer at the min, full suit, shirt, tie and shoes starting at £99. Quite a few to choose from for £99 too and look good too.
