So pretty much the boiler packed in and my parents have sodded off to Samos to sun it up Greek style leaving me here alone with no heating or hot water

Anyone know anything about oil boilers? I've asked Mr Kelly but being a towny he mainly does gas

Boiler is a Eurocal with Bentone burner

Symptoms are that it will run for about a minute then cut out and bring up a red light on the control panel

Have you fiddled with anything? i.e. one of the thermostats on the front as it might be a thermal cut out..

Nothing at all, it was broke before they left

I'm sure it's burning as the exhaust is blowing hot

I've turned the indoor thermostat up, it's holding a bar of pressure, but you press the ignite button then about 20 seconds later it cuts out and brings up the red light

Its locking out by the sound of it - Air Lock in the fuel system? Has it recently had the tank filled or run low?

Tank is half full and electro sender thing is showing 4, had the lid off so I know it's got plenty in there

I'm pretty sure it's not been allowed to run out

Another problem it's always had as well is when you run the hot tap on full for a bath is it starts off hot then goes Luke warm

Call a plumber.

Possibly burner packing up. We end up replacing the ones on our managed property every year to prevent them failing without warning.

Don't call a normal plumber, call the maker and they will send out an approved engineer.

Try turning the heat right down and see if it will keep running.
Is there any weird expanding pipe/pinging noises?

Worst advice ever. If its more than 5 years old it'll be out of warranty and they won't want to get involved.

Plus you'll wait two weeks for an approved engineer (who is actually just a normal plumber).
