Right basically after my last engine threw a rod i rebuilt another bottom end and the same head. Ive now run into a problem.

I have very little oil getting to the inlet cam. The exhaust cam has a normal amount of oil getting to it though. The head has been stripped and cleaned and is clear from blockages. The head gasket is on the right way and is not blocking the oil feed holes. What else could be causing it? The only other idea ive got left is low oil pressure but the light isnt on and theres plenty of oil and the level hasnt dropped. Could it be the oil pump? It might have enough pressure to pump oil to the exhaust cam but not through to the inlet cam aswel.

Well i found out the oil pressure should be 1.5bar(21.75psi)/820rpm. My in car pressure gauge doesnt even register a PSI reading on idle and then occasionally it does and it varies between 0-15PSI. It did vary between 15-30PSI but no doesnt register at all.

I could really do with some help as to what it could be.

Also its just started bogging out and dying when i press the accelerator. When i put my foot down the revs just drop and nothing happens. Any idea what that could be? I thought it might have been related, either that or im having more problems with either the wiring or the plugs.

Im starting to lose faith now so any help is greatly appreciated

it could be the oil pump when they go faulty they start to lose the pressure in the oil system did you reuse the old pump or get a new one maybe the relief valve could be stuck open the bogging down could be related but play with the oil problem first then find out what happens best of luck with it you will get there soon with it

Cheers for the reply mate.

I used the old oil pump but i was told it had only done 10k when i bought the block it was attatched to. That could be BS though so i dont know. I think a new oil pump is going to be the next step but i just wanted to make sure before i dismantled it all again. Is there a way of testing the relief valve or is it just easier to replace it?

Im not sure what the bogging down is. It happened last time and it was a combination of wiring, ht leads and a plug. I think the alternators packing up aswel as when i plugged my gauges in the idle went shit so i think they are draining the electric and the alternator cant cope.

its just easyer to replace it other wise have to take the oil pump apart not really worth the hassel well play with the oil problem first when the bogging down happens is it when the cars cold or when if foggy/wet outside or when the cars warm does it do it all the time or just every so often

Ok mate i'll be changing that tomorrow then.

It bogs down near enough all the time. Its only at lows revs though when i put my foot down even gently its like the engine just cuts out and the revs drop. It wasnt doing it before i wired in my gauges so it might have something to do with them but i dont see why it would.

well unplug the gauges and then test it without them if its doesnt do it then you got a wiring problem if it does then need to look further into it best of luck with the oil pump you will get there with the car i feel them same with mine at the min lol

Ye im going to disconnect them in a min and see if that works but i dont see why they would cause the engine to basically cut out under load.

they might be shorting or earthing out vauxhall engines love there earths when they short they dont run right so could be that maybe

Ok mate i'll get them removed anyway it was only to check the oil pressure. Cheers for the help
