I know there is a few of you on here so want some advice. Whats the main differences aside the power between the cupra and cupra R? What do i need to look for when buying one? Seen an 03 Plate Black Cupra with 80k miles, full dealer service history up for 3800, looks in good condition but doesnt have the multispoke alloys that i thought the cupra had. Advice please

if it has the 5 spokes it's the pre-facelift one, doesn't look as nice and less power i think?

Brembos, thats a pretty big difference to omit.

less so is the pissy red bits on the air vents.

Cupra - 180hp 1.8t and 150hp 1.9tdi

Cupra r - 210 &225 HP 1.8t

Facelift cupra has a different bumper and the 5 spoke 'star fish' wheels. Preface had normal bumper and multispoke wheels

Cupra r has 18" wheels, brembos, different bumpers and sideskirts, some had leather recaros too!

In the last few years of the mk1 they made a fr+ which had the cupra r kit with same engines as the cupra

Also I had mates with a 210 version and 225 version, almost identical mods, both Stage 2 mapped, the 210 one had more horsepower at the end of it and was much faster on the road, so don't worry about buying a 210

Definetly get a Cupra R though

Any issues with one on 80k? Suppose that's about average for the year.

My friend is on 125k and his turbo has given up, so he's replaced it with a hybrid one.
