I have an old 20GB iPod (I think it's 4th gen, has a mono screen) which I use for listening to tunes obviously.

Because I have loads of MP3s if I want to listen to tracks from a specific artist it takes me ages to scroll, do the newer iPods have a facility to search for an artist or something where you type the first 3 letters of the artist or whatever and it gives you a list of results?

If so, I may consider upgrading

My ipod touch does there is a search screen which will bring up apps and songs depending on your criteria.

iPod touch sorts tracks by artist, can scroll through letters quickly in the music app or use the 'spotlight' search off the home screen to type in queries.

As ipod touch does, the rest of the ipods you have to scroll using the click wheel.

The display is only big enough for 4 icons, so i doubt it has an on-screen keyboard.

Songs keep randomly pausing on my iPod now, grrr new hard drive or iPod Touch?
