Keeping a number of cars on the road is very expensive and wasteful - having two "similar" cars even more so. Obviously the Megane and Puma are different but you're using them both for the same purpose? Commuting, bit of B-road, days out whatever.

I could only ever justify it if each vehicle was sufficiently different that you can make a choice which one to use. I can see you leaving the house walking towards both cars thinking I'll take the fun, fast one or the more fun, faster one.

Obviously the Puma isn't going to get much attention.

megane would be used for weekends/track days/short trips

puma would be used for work and long commutes to horsham every fortnight

it doesnt have to be a puma just that i already have it, open to suggestions for something else to fulfil those latter tasks

When you work out the value of the car and the cost to have it available for this, you would be better doing those jobs in a better car. Plus you'll want to do that.

No way I would be leaving my main car at home - which is also costing money to tax and insure - to drive something worse. Every day you don't use the Megane is a day of investment wasted so you can enjoy the drive less. Doesn't make sense to me.

Seriously Steve a small van sounds perfect for you. Get an Astra Van for about £1000-£1500, it'll be reliable, it'll last forever, you can throw stuff in the back, not care about it too much, it'll be pretty good on fuel.

And as Ian mentioned, I also don't see the point having 2 similar cars. Although I disagree about the leaving the nicer car at home point, if I'm just popping into town I just take my van, no point risking some old bint knocking her door against my car.

thats cool, but still even if i just used it whenever there is definately no chance it could get used for work.

do you think selling the puma and buying a van might be a better alternative then?

imo unless your doing mega miles I wouldn't have two cars.

I ran a 106 gti and the S3 and it was more trouble than its worth.

Just spend on one car that you really want and sell the puma.

Why don't you buy a crash repaired car that's been on a jig and it'll save you thousands m8?

hence my suggestion of just getting a Megane R26 and have just the one car that you can use equally as well on the road to go about your work but capable at the weekend on the track
