Going on hols to a non eu country so 200 cigs per person. Also if caught you have to pay duty on all of it.

What rate?? @ 17.5%???

So if i had 400 that cost me £20 thats £3.50 duty to pay? Still cheap as chips?

Not gonna bring back 1000's just a few more and weighing up the pro's and cons

if you declare them you will have to pay, the duty for cigs, then add VAT onto that and see if theres any import tax

if you dont declare them and get caught they take them off you

It's a bit more than 17.5%

You have to pay excise duty remember - currently 24% of the retail price PLUS £119.03 per thousand cigarettes.

Need pay

•Customs Duty 2.5%
•Excise Duty if the goods are tobacco or alcohol - 24% + £119.03 pr thousand
•Import VAT - 17.5%

How confusing!!!!!!!!!!

Why not just take through customs? Can take 100,000,000 back if in the EU!

Just noticed that you have to be over 17 to bring back Duty free, which rules out my plan of the kids (7/9) bringing back 200 L+B and a bottle a Jack!
