What is the benefits of having wheels powdercoated opposed to regular respraying?

Powdercoating = lot tougher finish and better overall results imo.

thats what i thought but wasnt sure, is it more resiliant to stone chips etc?

Painting gets much better results?! You can get car body finish to it

you can get as good as paint finishes with powdercoat

its easily better then the paint finish on my dads audis standard wheels so thats good enough for me

An apprentice didn't scratch my wheels when removing a tyre and refitting.. That surely tells you how tough the paint is on powdercoating!

not hard to remove tyres though mate. i done it at college a few weeks ago on the poper machine thing

powdercoating is tougher and can get just as good a finish. i had my cavi slabs powder coated white and a year later when i sold them they still looked as fresh as the day i got them done.

As a rough comparison, I've had powdercoated Comps on my car for just over 4 years, they've took some abuse and tbf they are looking passed their best but that's after some careless parking when I used to be on the deliveries, and the car got treated like a van bumping up kerbs etc.
Then on the other hand my brother bought some wheels a month or so back that were painted and the bolt holes were very tight for the locking nuts. I think there's now 1 wheel that didn't get paint chipped off despite being really careful with them.
I'd go for powder every time

bought some wheels for my fabia that had been painted, apparently buy a bodyshop, looked good but a year later they were stone chipped to fuck

I got a set of old chrome wheel painted at my old work, got them properly shot blasted and done with epoxy(?) paint all properly done with the stuff they put on industrial pumps. I never had the chance of putting them on since I crashed the car before I could but my mate put them on his mk3 golf - we were out and he drove up a kerb, parallel to it and the paint all flaked off. I wouldn't paint unless I didn't have the money for coating.

i had my st alloys refurbished with paint (mobile refurbisher) and while the finish was spot on, they got a lot of stone chips 
i also have anthracite paint alloys on my puma which have a couple of stone chips in, but nothing too bad.
would definitely pay for powdercoating.

May seem a daft question to some but just wondering is it possible to have wheels powder-coated that have been filled ? I obviously know when a company paints a wheel they prep them and use ally filler or 2 part e-metal stuff to fill any curb marks, so was just wondering if its still possible to powder coat ?
As 1 of my speedlines has a slight curb in it from previous owner
