Agreed

But the way their lardy arses perform might suggest those claims to be true...

Parkers say a 1.9 GT TDi 130 3dr is 1226kg, and a 5dr 1261kg

Miles off...

My mr2 weighed 1030 kg standard and had 138bhp. I got a lightweight exhaust and manifold for weight so now its gotta be < 1 ton and rr said 169bhp if i remember rightly. Be careful what you remove though as just taking out the spare an toolset out of the front of mine can unbalance the car.

There's no way your exhaust and manifold saved you 30kg.

My Astra is 1770kg, on a weighbridge.

That is of course with loads of folding roof gubbins. But it's damn heavy.

I've lost about 10kgs on the civic... carbon bonnet saved 6kgs straight away... exhaust system is a lot lighter than standard as is the gruppe m compared to the big heavy restricted airbox! so thats a whole 2bhp per tonne more?? Mind you I weigh just under 18stone so I don't really help
