Author problem with t reg vectra

ok mate has a t reg vectra 20. 16v ecotec , drove it last night and was fine, started it this morning and not so much . on startup , dash lights come on ( battery light , engine managment , the lot. and the light are dim and flickering. when revving lights come bright. after 30 secs or so the lights go off and stay off. but when driving the speedo etc will stop working completly. i said change the battery and try again but and other ideas on what it could be . thanks

Mates old saxo did this kinda thing.

Turned out to be alternator wiring.
