I passed my test in 1999 I think so just after the entitlements were changed circa 1997-1998.
I've got an Astra H Sport Hatch and I need to pull a small box trailer. Nothing too heavy as the trailer will be 6th long max an probably not even half a ton in weight when loaded. In fact not even close.
Am I able to tow it on my licence? Combined weight of trailer and car won't even be 2 ton probably.

yes it can be, as long as the car ,trailer and load is not over 3.5 , the cars gross weight has to be more than the trailers, and it has to be braked

Trailors over 750kg need to have brakes on them.
Basically your license atm allows you to tow a train upto 3500kg but the max gross weight/MAM of the trailer has to be less than the unladen weight of the car

from DVLA website
Car licences obtained on or after 1 January 1997
If you passed a car test on or after 1 January 1997 you're limited to vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes maximum authorised mass towing a trailer up to 750kgs, or a vehicle and trailer combination up to 3.5 tonnes MAM providing the MAM of the trailer doesn't exceed the unladen mass of the towing vehicle. You will need to pass an additional driving test in B+E if you wish to tow a caravan or trailer combination which exceeds these weight limits.
