As above, mines was leaking a bit.
Got cork replacements, just wondering if this is the best setup heard people mention 8v ones.

Or should i just use the originals with a smear of sealer between each surface?

Mine was a ball ache to seal! Was advised that 2 gaskets are required. Block face, gasket, splash plate, gasket, sump. Thats the way i got mine to seal.

Don't use sealer,
Once it eventually blocks up your pick up you'll regret it,
I've just got 8v setup on mine it's been perfect so far.

Hows it going to block my pickup?
I was only going to use a small amount on the gasket facings.
Most of the Nissan/Renaults i worked on during my time were just sealer for gaskets (Manufacturers spec)
I still have a few tubes of it left.

Edit - What parts make up an 8v setup?

The 8v set-up gets rid off the two cork gaskets and baffle plate and replaces it with a 1 piece baffle plate with a bonded rubber seal.
Its a much better design, its easier to fit and seals better.(although mine still bloody leaks lol)
It is quite expensive to buy though and because the set-up is a little bit thinner you have to use shorter bolts to hold the sump on the originals are a little bit too long.

Make sure you clean all the faces properly fit the 8v bonded gasket and torque up the shorter bolts properly and you should be sump leak free.

Get some ThreeBond it is the ABSOLOUTE SHIZZNEL for sealing gaskets.. I use it on everything that is oil related and I've never, ever, ever, ever, ever had a leak.. Even on EJ20 rocker covers (insitu) which are renound for being a total CNUT to seal.

Seriously it's that good it will probably give you a hardon.

i use wellseal on all my sump gaskets and never had a problem, it also never sets like silicon so wont cause an issue with the oilpump or pick up pipe ever. its about £13 a tube though
