just after some opinions tbh, Im going to look at a car at the weekend hopefully but just after some opinions as my im split between my head and heart
Basically i have the options to..
a) buy a car which will be more weekend/evening toy and keep the ibiza heap as work horse, this will keep the value of the weekend car up, it will also mean it should only need 1 service a year not 2/3, however this means that my insurance would go for the £800 for option b to £1000 which tbh i could manage, this would also mean that my monthly savings would be no where near what i can save now but again will be higher than in option b.
b) trade in my ibiza against new car, means cheaper to buy and insure £800 insurance costs, however monthly costs would increase aswell as general maintennce costs due to addition service costs, tyres and petrol costs and this also means i will ruin the resale value due to the amount of miles id end up putting on it.
c) trade ibiza in against a different car to a+b which is more expensive to buy and is newer, which i like but no where near as much as a+b and would also mean i would have to spend quite a bit modding it to get it to a standard i could live with, this would however make my insurance inbetween a+b (£900), but should technically keep my monthly costs similarish to what they are now bar the insurance increase. this would mean i would keep my savings up more than the other 2 options to a degree.
d) most sensible and most unlikely to win keep the ibiza and use keep my savings.
what would you do?
I keep having moments of thinking 'i only live once' so might aswell go option a, but then think 'i should really be sensible and keep saving'.
all options are possible but a+b do stretch me further than c

i was toying with that idea tom..... joking couldnt afford to run it lol.

joe - without knowing the car choices saves biased opinions although tbh its not hard to guess

Does he buy a cheap toy and keep his derv for work (a)
b - get a very cool fun car that's value could drop like a stone cos the the miles he's doing but cost a fair amount to run
c - get a more sensible car that he'd need to spend money on to enjoy
