Bought a Vreg 1.4 sport for a little project car for over the winter. All body work is fine but the head gasket has gone.

Here it is as it stands now






Its a shame about the engine as everything works on there perfectly, even the aircon is freezing.

What to do to it, replace with another 1.4 engine/ go for a 1.6 engine/ bite the bullet and red top it??

Will be getting astra gsi mark 3 brakes, stainless exhaust, springs and shocks -60

Cant decide on wheels

Any suggestions towards the car would be great

Looks a decent base mate, depends on finances really - regarding the XE.

If you can afford to do the conversion, go for it. If not, just get a 1.6.

Been offered a good one off a mate for the very reasonable price of 200 so very tempted.
Thats with shafts, ecu, everything

Do it that way then, realistically it'll be the same price for a 1.6 / 1.4 replacement, so you're not losing out.

Nah its on Bettws, i moved two years ago but kept my garage up there. Living down by the auctions now
