I've got a R plate 1.4 sport (X14XE), when I went out this morning the power steering had stopped working and the battery light is lit up on the dash. does anyone have any ideas what could be wrong?

Fucked fan belt mate, most likely getting the battery light because it's not turning the alternator.

Does it squeal when you rev it?

No squealing, but only went round the block quickly. I take it the power steering pump works off the fan belt then? cheers for help, will go check it now!

Aye it will do mate.

edit, I'm guessing anyway. If it's elctronic PAS it might be something up there but it's quite a coincodence you've got fucked PAS and battery light on.
