The only road going along where i stay is a bus route. No buses have been using it because i doubt they would get back up either.

its only the start of winter ice will be here in jan,
they ran out last year as said, they have more this time and are trying to manage it
drive slow and carefull untill your on main roads isnt hard

Loads of gritter down here but yes they only do bus routes so people can still get to work.
Not really working here though as its falling so fast its settling on the salt 
Guess ill be using the old method of transport tomorrow called Walking!

They are far more prepared this year.
Driving carefully until getting onto the main road is fine and that i can do but i cant drive carefully up a gill that requires enough speed that would make any car spin.

If they gritted every street then in 2 months time you would be moaning how the main roads arent clear cause theyve run out of grit from doing your street all the time and the others
I was going along a back road last night, clear roads then all of a sudden gritters had turned off following their route and road in front of me was inches thick with ice and snow. Just had to deal with it

Driving carefully doesn't always work. Just using the clutch caused my car to sit and wheelspin the other day I even got out and stood watching it for a few mins

You guys still have busses? Apparently round here all the busses are cancelled until next week and taxis arent doing all the fares they are given anymore either We have no hills, this is Lincolnshire

I can't remember where I heard this (either news on TV or somewhere else) but someone said that grit only works if you lay it down on a non-icy/snowy road - so if you're putting it on top of existing snow and ice it does sweet FA apparently.

im talking about the gritter coming along and making some fresh tracks using those big shovels they have and then grit where they have cleared.

Yeah I know what you mean, but they were saying that even in those cases it's still not as effective as putting it down on a dry, clear road.
