from experience from working for LG, the cost of a panel quite often outweighs the cost of a new unit funnily enough.

Fair enough, if it was a few hundred quid I would have done it, if I got the TV for less than £10.

Cheers mate

BTW - in answer to your question, a new screen for such a size LCD TV will cost you a lot. Ones for 26" screens start at about £70 to give you an example.

I suppose you could always buy it then do a Google on the part number stamped on the back of the LCD, but I'm guessing it's going to be expensive.

Edit: give these guys a bell, just saw an LCD for sale on there (40") for £135. http://www.lcdtvparts.co.uk/

You can get a half decent 42" LCD for sub £500.

You mentioned you were willing to pay a few hundred and a hundred for the TV your best off adding a little and getting a brand new one imo.

Edit: http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/panasonic-viera-tx-l42u2b-42-full-hd-lcd-tv-08534720-pdt.html

Cant go wrong with Panasonic imo.

Already have a 50" and a 42", don't need it, but If I can get a nice 40" for £200 fixed, then i'll give it a go
