Morning,
Appreciate this is a Corsa site, but the knowledge of engines far surpasses mine, so i shall ask:
Fitted a boost gauge to my Octavia VRS 1.8T yeterday. Car is boosting fine and boosting to 0.7bar which is what i expected. However, on full boost the gauge hisses /rattles. It's not massively loud, but is annoying. Gauge is brand new and the takeoff is from the pipe on the fuel pressure regulator.
Any ideas why? Broken gauge? leaking / trapped pipe?

I had a 1.8t golf and my gauge dis the same. Get it mapped and it will be worse. Perfectly normal

Does the boost pipe go to the back of the gauge or to an electrical sensor under the bonnet?

Been a while since I had a gauge, but I'm sure mine didn't hiss. Doesn't that mean it's leaking?

car is dirty - pics when clean
Pipe goes from gauge to the fuel pressure regulator. It buzzes / hisses / vibrates on full boost.
I will get another hose and replace it tomorrow to see if it is leaking, but it doesnt seem to be.

if it's a mechanical boost gauge and it's hissing I'd say the number one cause of that would be that it's leaking.

My mates on his astra is fine but its a digital 1 so there's no pressure near the actual gauge sounds like it is leaking

I think i must have punctured or split the pipe somewhere when fitting - will go buy a new pip and dummy fit it and try that

mines a mech one and it don't hiss at all, maybe an idea to put a pump on the end of the pipe to test the gauge and see if it leaks.

Found the problem - gauge is knackered. Bought another one to test it, and it works fine. now got to mess about and send mine back to ebay. Great!
