i had a sportex backbox on the corsa.

it lasted at least 3 and a half years before it was sold on to another bloke which is pretty good for mild steel.

the cat back with the race tube is loud but the backbox alone gives a nice tone a bit deeper than standard.

Possibly worse than Peco, stainless might be OK, but stay away from mild steel.

from rust? you could always paint it with high temp paint but tbh it would prob peel off anyways. If you can afford it get a stainless steal exhaust. If its just a backbox your after i would go for mild steel

I had mine on for two years and it was spot on for the money to be honest. Mine had a tiny amount of rust starting on it when I took it off. Nothing major at all and its still going strong on the car its on now. There are obviously better makes to choose from but if you just want a nice cheap exhaust thats sounds nice they are ideal.

well sort of looking into going for a cat back system then eventualy get a 4 branch mani and decat. if i painted it with hi temp paint would wax oil stick to it or is that just a bad idea.

I wouldn't even worry about it mate. One thing I will say if your planning a 4 branch and decat I'd go for a their system which has a middle silencer as they are very loud without them, let alone without the cat as well.

4-2-1 ftw.

Exhausts rust from the inside, so nothing you do is going to stop it rusting. Just live with it, Its not as bad as has been made out anyway.

The way they are made isnt a perfect fit mate, the better option would be to go on ebay type in cybox go on their ebay shop a look at the exhausts they are stainless will make to order if its not shown and are the same price as sportex, heard nothing but good things about them either will be buyin for mine in the new year

I have one on my 206, perfect fit, sounds really nice, quite loud for a backbox but thats probs coz the car has a 2.0L engine.

I'm happy with mine - a 4-1 Manifold, 'Race Tube' and Backbox...

I've never had any issues with Mild Steel systems - had one new on my old Cav about 4-5 years ago, and it's still good (it was transferred to another Cav i just sold on 2 weeks ago)
