I was even tempted to buy some and build a layout in my loft but never even bothered
dont sell it!
edit: found it
I had this built up

I was expecting a bit more of an interesting track layout for 3k if I'm honest

As john said.all my money went into engines and carriages etc.3k isn't alot when you think that the buildings are £20 each and some carriages are £30-40 each.
for example
I had this

I remember having to sand some bits of track to make a good connection
In the end i put some under a carraige and let it do the work on its own

I used to have a hornby set as a kid... I only really enjoyed building the tracks - got bored once built. Was kinda the same with scaletrix ...
I'd run it all over the room, under tables, behind sofas etc...
Sold it all when I started getting a bit older, A ) it was boring when built and B ) quite sad.
No one told my uncle though, who bought me a new train and carriages for a birthday - when i didnt have any track or anything anymore

trains were shit
scalextric ftw
my grandad had a massive setup with landscapes and shiz, i was more interested in the model cars he had in the scenery, my brother and i use to set them up as if they had car crashes and the train had gone into them on the level crossing

I wasn't a fan of scalextrics. think it was because of the metal grid running through the middle of the track. if they could have some how done it so the cars were like running normal (with say a magnet pulling the car from underneath the track it would have been more realistic
