What are the possible outcomes of someone driving their old banger 160miles from home and breaking down due to engine failure, then getting a taxi home and claiming your car was stolen?
If the police find the car, do you just get it back?

yeah as far as im aware if they find your car, tow it back to yours and once off the truck its your problem.
best burning it out and claiming it was stolen so its a complete write off .

do the police recover it for free?
lets pretend for the sake of arguement the car was abandoned as the recovery cost was going to be about £250 (i was told)

Strip it and cut it up when you're 160 miles from home. Really?

long extension lead?
If i was you id just get the a local dodgy bloke with a transit beavertail to go collect it (with you) and give him a few quid. be a hell of a lot cheaper than a recovery firm

Get a local paper and look for scrap dealers, they will come pick it up and give you £50-100.. That should pay for your TAXI.
