just bought a c20xe logged as a 1.4 sport. just wondering how do i go about making this legal?

how do i get a insurance quote? do i get a quote on a astra mk3 gsi(car engine came from)
high possibility car is getting garaged until my 20th birthday for insurance reasons

This is what someone told me earlier.. Also get some pics up of it



Initially I just sent away the log book with the changes listed but the DVLA sent a letter back saying that they would need either

* a receipt for the replacement engine (didn't have as it was 2nd hand)
* written evidence from the manufacturer
* an inspection report provided for insurance purposes (Flux didn't request a report)
* written confirmation on headed paper from a garage if the change in engine size took place before you bought the vehicle (I chanced the engine so couldn't use this option)

I phoned Vauxhall customer services, explained that I had changed the engine and that the DVLA needed proof of engine number and size from the manufacturer.

Vauxhall sent me out a letter on headed paper with all that and I returned it in the pre-paid envelope that the DVLA sent me.

Piece of cake really.

To get an insurance quote you need to state that its an engine converted car rather than getting a quote on the donor car Dan With mine they just asked me what car it was out of, how much the engine itself is worth and what power it was putting out.
