Hi guys. Hoping you lot can help me.

Im the proud owner of of a R-tech Remapped GT TDI.

The car was on 100k when it went in for the remap. After they remapped it smoked terribly so R-tech smoke tested it and found a few Boost leaks, instead of buying pipes that were to blow off again i fitted a forge FMIC. The car still continued to smoke. So R-tech found out the Egr was filthy and the afm could be gone. So a Allard egr delete was fitted with a brand new genuine AFM. The car still smoked. The last thing its been put down to is the Injector, Doe injectors fail??

Iv spent alot on this car and to add to the burden the clutch release bearing is singing and the DMF Sounds like a tractor.

Last night while on the motorway it went into limp mode twice and it has done this before. what causing the engine to go into limp mode?

I have had fellow TDI Friends saying its the map and that black smoked means its over fueling but iv read nothing but good reports about R-tech and the map is tried and tested.

I also though the map was generic but iv also been told that each map is different. Can anyone explain the situation of remapping?

I just dont want to waste anymore money on the car where it is not needed but im happy to buy the parts that are.

What are you thoughts guys??

yes injectors do fail.

if you run the car on supermarket or budget diesel the additives can cause problems.

also if you have had the car serviced and not used genuine Veedub parts such as the fuel filter,
the particles of dirt and crap in the fuel can get through spurious filters easier as they arent always as fine as the main dealer parts.

if an injector fails the spray pattern will be affected usually resulting in overfueling ,as it wont spray a fine jet, more likely it will drip or spurt out of the injector head, a common sign is a lot of smoke when under acceleration, poor acceleration, lumpy running etc etc.

people say using injector cleaners/additives can help, from experience its a load of crap, they dont work.

if you have doubts about it have the injectors tested by a specialist, shouldnt be too expensive to test, and if 1 or more is knackered they should be able to refurbish them.

i had a 2005 Vectra C CDTI that has power issues, loads of smoke, and crap performance, 3 of 4 injectors were shafted, it cost me £95 per injector for the refurb, when they were put back in the car ran like a dream
