looking at getting a diesel car when my ibiza goes.
want to spend anywhere from £2k-£4k
astra, focus size
what would you guys recomend?
a 1.7 astra club (04ish) is winning so far for around £3k

we have a 1.7 club estate at work, with any weight in the back they are prety poor, MPG isnt that good eithe with weight in but if you dont have to carry weight thers nothing to worry about. you can pick up 04 plate tdci fiestas for good money now, iv always liked the A2 aswell.

What sort of MPG do you want? If you are happy to spend less money but poorer MPG a 2.0DTi mk4 Astra is a good bet, mine has just failed MOT on 10 year old copper brake pipes and track rod ends, engine never misses a beat, doesnt even have to have a cambelt change every 2 years because its a chain  Most probably pick a decent one up for £1k and they get 50-55mpg on motorway runs. They lack a 6th gear for proper eco runs, can get cruise activated on a tech 2 and wire in the stalk for about £40 as well if you wanted it
