I have found Using a jet wash on an engine bay is fine as long as your sensible (not holding it a 30cm away blasting any wires), and for the oil I've used truck wash at work but I dunno where to buy that, I would have thought a decent alloy wheel cleaner that lifts dirt would be what your after

I've never been a fan of using pressure washers under the bonnet. You can cover all the main bits (alternator, battery etc) but I feel it's still abit risky for what it's worth. Just get some yourself a decent degreaser or even better, some solvent cleaner. You can get solvent from most uPVC outlets and it'll do great with hot soapy water in breaking down oil. Just be careful with using it on rubber hoses as it can perish them.

As said you need to go careful using a pressure washer. Old Corsas aren't like modern cars which have everything covered in plastic. I've done mine a couple of times at its been fine though. Just make sure you hold it a fair distance away and don't spray it directly onto things which aren't going to take too kindly to being drenched. A good tip is to leave the engine running while you do it, helps dry it out as well

wd40 works but it's pretty shite. Cellulose thinners/ wheel cleaner (neat wonder wheels is good), electronics covered and sensible hosing/ jet washing work.

That's why you apply the cleaner with a wheel brush or similair, jetwash is purely for light rinsing.
