The eBay auction was very honest too, even stating it had been thrashed around a track and the photos of the interior showed several empty drinks cans and rubbish in the foot well

Jury is out on that one at the moment, I've never owned a RWD car before, let me get used to it on the road first

i second that! i love RWD

and Dave is right, they are gutless on track. i may not be the fastest driver but i feel i have some reason to include the car in my higher lap times. brilliantly fast on the roads, very much a drivers car, working the engine and gearbox in harmony to make quick progress. i can get to a ton but much past it i can tell there isn'tmuch more to give.

i love to compare other MX5s to mine on track but in terms of track time with WR it isnt a competitve car in an everyday state (i know Butler has one and been on track but his is very much more race prep'ed, stripped out, track tyres rather than my everyday driver)

Just because there are holes in the airbox and a lot of bodges, doesn't mean the previous owner did it..=/

'The idiot has turned the airbox into something that resembles edam!!!!!! Now don't get me wrong, I'm all for tuning and modifying cars but there really is a right way and a wrong way!!!! I can't decide if his tiny mind concluded that this was a good idea to save more precious weight or to increase airflow into the box?!?!? Whatever gains in volume of air are made from the holes are only ever going to be losses in terms of air temperature since you can see quite clearly in the second picture that it's going to be sucking nice hot air straight off the exhaust manifold! The scarey thing is, the previous owner was a mechanic of some description'
