What was the milage? not that it matters as arent they due around 5 years or 32k anyway.
New engine?

Timing Belt Kit - Every 5 years or 72k
Auxiliry Belt Kit - Every 3 years or 36k.

Exactly so both would be due any way.
Plus the tensioners need replacing more importantly.

Clio belts need done as soon as you leave the garage or the car will blow up and kill your kids, cliosport FACT.

Not really.
Its like every other car. Servicing needs done and parts need replaced after so long, big deal.

Do you service your car as per the service schedule, john?

Normally to better than the service schedule, normally are new enough not to need a belt or I don't have it for long enough to do one though.

Would rather have newer and not pay for expensive services.

Clio isn't really a sports car, I've had one and frequented cliosport, that's where my comment comes from.

Rather just stick a 1.6 in it, it's been through 2 cam belt snappings now that i know of.

first one was done on the cheap as i was on a tight budget, second hand head skimmed and fitted with new gasket and timing kit/water pump. i was lucky not to have any damage to the pistons/bores, but i dont want the hastle this time round, new engine, new start, and a little more power

Not a nice feeling.

Ive had the belt snap on my old XE and bent 8valves,and then on my old Mk3 Golf 16v and bent 4valves and snapped the woodruff key in the cam sprocket.
