Yes that is just my circumstance.

Ste W was commuting in a 1.9 CDTi Vectra and getting 50mpg averages. 30k pa he was doing significantly better than petrol. And that car wasn't even that slow.

It's not ALL about economy sometimes though... if you live somewhere where it is very hilly for example, you'd want something that had a bit of umph, if you were doing loads of 4 mile journeys you'd have a little petrol/hybrid.

I need a derv, the Primera seems to be averaging around 30-35mpg and I realised yesterday, I've done 5k since I got it just over 2 months ago.

I also have the benefit of VAT back on business miles too so the diesel itself actually works out cheaper too

I just went from E36 that i sold for £1900 to a £1800 Bora TDi. Less miles and newer.

When I first got the BMW i was averaging 24mpg. Averaged 40mpg in Bora already. Expecting 45+ when it gets serviced and I get more used to it.

I think it all depends on personal circumstances.
