What are the restrictions on getting this type of insurance?
Did the car have to be worth a particular price when new? Do you have to have a clean licence? Be a certain age? etc

It varies from company to company. Some need you to be over 25, others won't insure a "Classic" if it's your main vehicle, etc etc.
You'll just have to try a few.

call HIC and ask for a classic policy, that's what i've got on my mk2 golf
agreed value, like for like on modifications, although i had to agree an annual mileage which they're really strict on

There are a few points I can't comply with there, for example it would be my primary vechicle etc
