Got a price from 2 bodyshops today to have a set of post 97 bumpers sprayed White with gloss black tops and gloss back arches... Quoted £500! Plus if I wanted the rust sorting on my bonnet another £200! A bit excessive I thought!? Anyone else?

Sounds about right, arches are around £50 each. I would buy a compressor (if you dont already have one) and do it yourself. Bigger things like rust, get an expert but just spraying arches and bumpers you can do yourself

I've never really agreed with that comment when it comes to painting cars. Theres only 2 ways of doing the job regardless of cost IMO, the right way or the wrong way.

But you can still do a crap job the right way! You genrally do get what you pay for.
You will be paying that as it will be in the booth double the amount of time and baking twice. A bake cycle can be around £15 a time and decent paint isn't cheap so it all adds up.
As a private job I would do your bumpers for around £300. So a bodyshop price is about right.

I very much dissagree, the preperation is key with bodywork any monkey can mix up some paint and activator, scotch up a panel and point the gun at it.

I class painting a car the whole process not just the painting itself.
If I went to a place and they quoted me £300 for a job and then quoted someone else £500 for the exact same work from the sme guy then does that mean mine will turn out worse???
