Finally put some coillys on so few pictures and some questions/problems to go with it!!

Firstly the top nut is down as far as there is thread and there is still space between the nut and the cup which is making a knocking noise. There is probably a 1-2 cm gap between the base of the nut and the cup. Pictures below

Secondly I left off two silver conical shaped plastic things from the originals where these meant to go on to be left off?

Thats what I thought, the only bits that i didnt put on are like two grey conical things made from plastic

One each side? Sounds like your meaning the alloy/metal bearing.

Get a pic of them, or take the coilover off and get a pic to post up.

This nis definatly wrong, tops are meant to be alot lower than that

I think it probably is the bearing, I take it they should be in between the top mount not the gold plate on the fk's? Il take them off and post a pic

I just fitted gaz coilys and had the same problem... I fitted without the cone metal bits then with and loads better. Did you fit the first bit above the spring off the original strut?

I took the top bit with the locating pins on top and not the bearing does the bearing go in between the gold part on the coilover and the top mount?

Ive got it on with the plate on top of the coily, then the silver cone them the top mount then the cup bit.. Think it's right :s
