Any one have any thoughts on these? Miss my diesel fabia vrs and have been looking at replacing the puma i currently have as bought for GF to drive but still hasn't passed!

http://www.autocar.co.uk/CarReviews/FirstDrives/Skoda-Fabia-1.4-TSI-180-vRS/250428/

Requirements are

Sporty
Frugal - Petrol / Diesel
Space for lugging crap around like dogs, shopping, crap from house

On briskoda people are getting these for around 14K off the forecourt - seems a good price for a new load lugger. candy white looks nice. can get them remapped too at some point for 210 ish bhp

Yeh puma is fun to drive - not been impressed with garage bills though. Prob my fault for buying a dodgy one.

Bought for 2.4

Spend - 350 on general bits post buying, tires, alignment, new heater controler
Spent - Another 1100 on rebuild of gearbox after couldn't select 2,4 or reverse.
Spent - 450 on Major service & MOT.

Tax is going to be £230 This year too!

These costs are all in for 12months

The fabia cost me nothing in 12months ownership and sold for same price i bought it at

jesus wept 1100 quid on a gearbox rebuild!

could have bought a new one for half that price, in fact someone on the puma forum was selling new frp boxes for 250 a time

also not being able to select those gears sounds more like a linkage or mount problem

also had the speed sensor go.

Yeh a part in the gearbox disintegrated and wouldn't select those gears.

Linkage was good apparently.

However i am no mechanic!...obviously!

Thats nice of them.

My puma had done 103k by the time i sold it. Never went wrong, just changed the pads and discs and two tyres (but you do that on any car). So the car cost me about £150 for the year. I use to kick its head in too.

John - had a feeling you'd miss the Fabia once you sold it!

What about an Octavia estate? Or is it too big for the G/F?

hey rich - gd to hear from you

Octavia estate would be nice accept wouldn't go on the drive at the mo need to move!

Think i miss the space (puma is small inside), the solidity, half decent poke and the mirror finish paint!

Very true, forgot about the space issues on the driveway!

And yes, a Fabia definitely feels bigger inside over the Puma! Paintwork can be made shiny whatever it may be haha.

fabia looks awful imo.

you must hav bought a dog of a puma as mine has done over 15k miles in my ownership and although i have dodgy noises coming from the clutch release bearing and aux belt, it's still going strong. i haven't even serviced it yet.

I'd be half tempted by that green they do. And I usually hate green cars. Green with the black/anthracite wheels would look the business.
