Need to pick your brains i no a few of you have been on & go on track quite abit so thought would see what you recommend, i fancy giving it ago & as i've currently got a mini cooper s which is all runnin fine with no problems i thought this would be ideal for using.
My main question is what do i need to bring/have if i wanted to come along and try it out? Also were & when would be the best place as i am a complete novice to it all. I no you can buy track time at event's but what about open pit day's, iv read about them abit & seem's you pay for the day turn up & have the day to drive, so thought might be ideal as can take it steady for a bit till i get my confidence knowledge of the track up through out the day & get quicker ect as i do, would this be a good idea?

Have a look on weekend racer, there is lots of info on there.
In your neck of the woods if you want to have a quick dabble and see if you like/enjoy it have a look at bedford autodrome. A track a few people on here could highly recommend as being a safe place(plenty of run off on no barriers right next to the track), plenty of room as its a long track and it kind of has every kind of corner imaginable.

They do also do other curcuits and also Novice days which are aimed at yourself or taster sessions or half days.
Helmets can always be hired at the curcuit, most TDO's require arms and legs covered and also you will need both parts of your licence.

Ah thanks mate I did create a thread on there and like this reply had some very knowledgable answears, that's was just the advice I was after thanks, shall have a look at the Bedford autodrome then. I have got a helmet and gloves I can use and no problem with covering legs & arms better safe then sorry! I guess car wise a good service possible new brake fluid and considering braided hoses then it's good to go I'd imagine?

I did my first before xmas, at Cadwell Park, was ace, was very nervous but all went well. Got another booked for 11th June.
As said, helmet and both parts of liscence.
For my first i checked all the car over before hand, found a broken spring so replaced all 4, and replaced all brake fluid with Dot 5.1 and had a hell of a lot of fun!!
All you can do is take it easy first few laps etc, untill you get used to it, and then have fun  i would also recomend doing 10 - 15 mins and coming in for a little while to give you/the car a rest.

If you just want a quick taster the castlecoombe events that we attend are good for a 20min session or so and there is a show to walk round too TVL is coming up soon
Also check out the motorsportvision site as they do taster sessions (£20 for 20mins) at their curcuits. So see which is closest to you
