which is why I doubt the read out more to be honest and the engine should have had a K04 not a K03. Who knows, sold the car now even though I wish I hadn't so don't suppose I'll ever find out
It pulled more than a standard 150hp A3, but nowhere near the 225 in similar circumstances; rolling starts so 180 would sound more realistic then

I've played with a few cars in my A3.
Its a 1998 150bhp AGU with a remap, 3" downpipe/decat, full scorpion system and Apexi cold air indunction kit. (Nearing 200bhp).
I was JUST faster than a 98 Volvo 850 T5 estate (225bhp). Beat a Prelude 2.2VTi by miles. Remapped Corsa VXR by miles and my personal favourite was an 8L S3 which I just got past.

Bet Audi are kicking themselves for not fitting a scorpion exhaust to the S3 now

Seats stand up fine in the mk4 Golf but gear knob and steering wheel get proper shiney. Interior door handles have the rubberised coating come off and look a bit tatty, mine had been replaced when I bought it.
Boot locks on mk4 Golfs are notorious for getting screwed up. Mine had this issue making the central locking very temperamental and manual key locking impossible at times. Its due to the rear washer pipe leaking.
Mine had 148k on it when sold, no rattles though.

rear washer pipe is an easy fix, mine leaked when I first got it and sorted it in 10 mins.

Has to be the Golf for me and simple reason is, I've driven the golf and loved every minute of it, and found it really comfy and I'm not keen on A3's.

Everythings an easy fix if caught in time. If the previous owner has let it go to the point the lock is gubbed, changing the pipe in 10mins doesn't fix the main issue of the boot lock not always working.
Mine got to the point it would take brute force to even pull the key out after manual locking.
Was punting it so never bothered checking the price of a new lock.

interior wearing on cars is down to the owners, its strange, i reckon some people can't get in and out of a car properly.
i've never buy a car from a fat bloke

No reckon about it mate. Some people actually cant.
I have a go at people that get in by sliding down the bolster, lazy cunts.

Good call tbh, always liked those. Mates just had a lot of trouble with his Mk3 GTI though.
