Thinking of giving this a whirl considering how cheap the cars can be picked up and the fact nobody does up omega's
What would be the best model start off with?would it be a 2.0 or a v6?
Plus with them being rwd what problems could this bring up, would it be be custom mounts and shafts etc
Thanks for any info

mounts etc will all be the same prop etc will fit if your using the auto box, unless you find a manual omega. should be prety straight forward conversion tbh

They come with x20s so mounting a z20 in should be easy I would have thought

Yea. They come with 2.0 or 2.2 depending on the year. So i guess a CLet or similar would drop right in. IIRC someone on www.omegaowners.com has done and/or started a turbo conversion.

Distributor might foul the bulkhead so you will need to look into that and make sure there is enough room at the rear.

I've done this before..
The Z20LET is the same block as the X20XEV (pre 2001 omega) and virtually the same as the Y22XE/SE.. However it doesnt go straight in on the standard mounts because the turbo fouls them.
You can either source another manifold or build a mount that allows the turbo outlet to go through it (this is what I did).. Also If you've got AC you'll more than likely have to bin it because its all right in the bloody way.

My work just binned an S reg Omega 3lt V6 with 6k on the clock today! It went at lunchtime (was a project vehicle so hardly got any use)!
I have spent the last week trying to at least get my mits on the engine, but no dice!
I would expect to see it on ebay at some point unless the salavge place scrap it
