Just been driving and had a blow out on my astra. Gone to change wheel and don't have a locking wheel nut. Text my mate who is a technitian at Toyota, and he says you can snap the wheel nut with hammer and chisel. Has anyone done this, is it easy?

Exact same thing happened to me but i didn't have a spare wheel so had to drive to a garage and get a new tyre straight away. Then found out there was locking nuts on and i didn't get the key off the previous owner, so the guys in the garage just hammered a socket on and it came off.

Got it off! Welded a nut onto the bolt so we could get a better grip on it! Took nigh on 2 hours to get it off after trying a garage full of tools! Melted part of my alloy but needs must! Guy working in the garage didn't even charge me despite the two hours on his day off!

this, i had one random locker on a saxo i bought that was different to the others and i didnt have a key for it, smacked an 18mm on it and it came straight off

Nah we tried, problem is there was an outer ring on the locking wheel nut that just turned

gator grip, reverse threaded socket etc....
It pretty easy to get them off  Had to do it too many times now

Few people said gator grip but Didn't have one. The mechanic who's garage we brought it to so they're easy to get off, until he tried this one! Tried no end if forcing sockets on etc, outer ring just turned, tried hammer and chisel on the centre to turn up but it was on too hard, then he tried to drill through the centre but it was toughened, then tried welding a bolt to the nut to get a firmer grip, still didn't work. In the end I think he melted the outer ring onto the inner bolt, jammed a socket on and managed to get it off that way. Couldn't get the nut out the socket like
