ok have a dilemma.
i don't talk to my neighbours on my right due to them being sad twats and the geezer thinking he's a hells angel on his moped.
i have a small border fence (one of the flower bedding ones) out the front which is buggered. i want to take it up and replace it with new stuff on the same kind, but the ''good side'' of it faces their way.
in the back garden we have the good side of the fence, so what i'm asking is would the front garden fence belong to us? can't remember where i put the land border paperwork unfortunately.
sorry it's worded crap, i've had 3.5 hours sleep since 3pm yesterday

probably a shared fence, if you want to do anything with it you will both need to agree

What side it faces usually just shows who paid for the fence, unless you get an arsey neighbour who seems to think if you erect a fence they have to have the nice side even if you are paying (which I have seen a lot of times).

oh ok cheers. will have to look at my deeds then.
sure they won't mind if i do replace it all for new stuff and one has broke in half anyway but best to be sure before messing about with boundary stuff i guess.

Normally they are shared jist like the ones at the rears.
Your deed plan would only show you your property boundary, not who owns the fence.
If they are going to be a cunt about it then why not just erect a new fence up on your side, leaving the shitty one on theres? And paint the side facing their garden pink and your side brown.

When we first moved in my dad asked him about sorting something out and might have to get access to his garden to sort a problem with our conservatory out and he said no because they were having people round even though my dad hadnt even said a date. Complete tosser. Other neighbour said the same.

Just erect one your side of the current fence! That's what I plan to do anyways.

Theres always one or two complicated people.
Same goes for those who buy brand new houses on new housing sites. They get a few client extras for free but they still seem to complain about the noise of the construction on the rest of the sites, or site traffic or even planning permission related things.

What harm is going to do to ask him? He either says yeah crack on, not arsed and you take the old fence down and put a new one up. Or he says no and you put a new one up inside of the old one

ask good neighbour who owns that fence, if its them, then you will own the other, if its you then bad neighbour should own the other. Just send them a letter advising of the state of play.
