Hi there, I was just wondering if I can do the paperclip test on my 1999 1.0 12v corsa, the eml light its flashing and the car starts up then cuts out.

You can't do the paperclip on the X10XEs unfortunately but a flashing EML is an immobiliser issue

Oh right thanks, its constantly flashes the car will start up for 2 secs then cut out. Do you have any idea what the problem could be caused by?

I'm not that well up on immobilisers, have you got a spare key for it? Could be a dodgy chip in the key you're using.

I'm guessing it's a fault that's just suddenly happened during normal use? You've not been doing work on the car and it's become a problem since then?

Yes Ive got 2 keys for the car, it just started playing up whilst I was driving it so I decided to park it up. When I came back to it, 2 days later the eml flashes fast and the car will start for 2secs then cut out. It will start straight back up but then cut out again, do you think I should leave the battery disconnected to reset the ecu? Or is there a commen fault that causes this?

not had the key fall apart have you?

It might be worth leaving battery off, that or there is a wiring issue.
